著者「隱秘的事，是屬耶和華我們神的；惟有明顯的事，是永遠屬我們和我們子孫的，好叫我們遵行這律法上的一切話。」﹝申二十九29﹞
神的話是易明的，但易明的聖經也有難明的部份，是因時代的湮遠、文化的差異、言語表達的特徵，翻譯上的誤解，這一切使人易於錯解聖經。
筆者在各處教導神學時，發現一般信徒深受一些傳統解經的誤導，遂對某些真理有錯誤的解釋和應用。故多次試用原文輔助詮釋，並備用不同的版本，使經文更合原意，這樣在應用上就不致牽強和偏差。

基督徒常說：創造天地萬物的神，是我們在天上的父親。然而，這個父親是怎樣的呢？我們每個人或多或少都會有藉自身經驗而來，對這位天上父親的投射和想像：有人以為這父親是一位慈父，是那種讓孩子爬到頭上，亂扯鬍子卻只會哈哈大笑的老頭兒。有的，會視祂為眾人生活行為的宇宙警察，隨時在我們不為意的情況下，出來指控我們、懲罰我們。另一些，則看祂是不吃人間煙火的白袍老翁──滿有智慧，卻對人世間的事情，不聞不問。還有……
事實上，未曾接觸聖經所描繪的天父的那些朋友們，總會對神有些先入為主的看法（甚至不少信徒也是如此！）。然而，這些想像總是與聖經所描繪的父神，相距甚遠。
《天父也起舞：接納與擁抱的喜訊》（Parable of the Dancing God）的作者克魯格（C. Baxter Kruger），正是希望我們能進入耶穌所講的浪子比喻中，從而看到人藉經驗的投射和想像的神，是如何被扭曲；並藉路加福音十五章這一比喻，說明事實的真相。
經歷過最艱難的日子，浪子赫然發現自己原來是「父親的」兒子！這個看似最明顯不過，有點兒「說了等於沒說」的事實，卻道出了人神關係的真相：「他父親永遠是他的父親，所以他永遠是父親所疼愛的兒子」。要維繫這樣的關係，不是靠自己做一些事情，去挽回天父震怒的心（本來浪子也以為如此）。面對自己的失敗，神仍對他滿懷憐憫，並且歡欣地跑來與他擁抱！祂是那「明知我是怎樣的人，明知我做過許多錯事，卻仍鍥而不捨，並且高呼僕人去拿上好的袍子、鞋子和家傳的戒指過來」的那一位。
是因這樣的接納和愛（不是憤怒和拒絕），人生才能有改變過來的動力和勇氣。
你認識這樣一位為你欣然起舞的父神嗎？
然而，這本小冊子並非單為未信的朋友而寫的。事實上，作者的用意和耶穌昔日講這比喻時的用意，可以說是同出一轍：天國比喻是為了糾正人們對神、對祂心意的錯誤了解。在拼命事奉的背後，今日信徒是否也自訂了規條，「自創一套宗教律例，藉此肯定自己……以致他們無法接受天父是擁抱接納罪人的，也接受不了耶穌接待罪人並待他們如同好友的作風」？這比喻若有甚麼話要對信徒說，那就是我們的天父，正是那位奔向浪子，緊緊擁抱著他，與他連連親嘴，並吩咐人大擺筵席的歡欣雀躍者！
看見這樣的父親，我們的感動將會轉化為對別人怎樣的行動呢？從這一點看，作為「大兒子」的當代信徒──你和我，就更加不能不讀這本小書，並回應作者向我們所發出的挑戰！【】
